Sarah Roberts takes on her first full marathon
I’m running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on the 11th of May to raise money for FoodCycle – an incredible charity that uses surplus food donated by supermarkets and food banks to create meals served weekly at various projects around the UK.
I am one of the leaders at the project in Harehills in Leeds. Every week I see first-hand the incredible impact that FoodCycle has on the local community. We are not a foodbank, no referrals are necessary, and our volunteers serve people at tables and encourage conversation and connection. It’s something really special, with regular guests who have made friends and built bridges in an incredibly diverse community.
I’ve decided to take on the Leeds marathon to support this charity as it means a lot to me and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.
